Transdisciplinarity in Teaching – Final 4Cities workshop - Indicators in Action: Supporting Sustainable Urban Development
On June 27th 2024, the 43 international students of the interdisciplinary 4Cities Erasmus Mundus Masters in Urban Studies organized a transdisciplinary workshop as part of the Summer Term 2024 course Contemporary Challenges in Urban Development, taught by Kerstin Krellenberg & James Vandenberg.
This workshop was a follow-up of the first course workshop on Urban Sustainability Indicators and Impact Evaluation, held on April 11th 2024, where students and experts currently working in differing fields of urban development in Vienna were first brought together to discuss and exchange on the development, implementation, and usefulness of indicators for impact evaluations.
As the first workshop laid the foundation for the students to access and evaluate the seven public space projects recently implemented in Vienna (Reumannplatz, Praterstern, Thaliastraße, Pelzgasse, Pfeilgasse, Frizti-Massary-Park, and Altgasse) during the semester, this workshop was dedicated to the results of the assessment and evaluation by the students. Furthermore, in order to strengthen their transdisciplinary skills, the students were responsible for workshop organization, moderation, and the like. 12 experts from different organizations in Vienna followed our invitation and intensively discussed with the students.
Below, an interactive Miro board provides an overview of the board, which allows you to navigate over the 7 presentations developed by the students, and read through the main themes that were discussed.
