Young Scientists on the stage of the 3rd Brachflächen Summit

Master’s students of the Department of Geography and Regional Research present their research approach to the analysis of a textile wasteland in the Waldviertel. Their geographically and spatially sensitive approach is met with great approval during the 3rd Brownfield Summit in Salzburg on October 22, 2024.
Demographic development, historical embedding, mobility and use of natural space, activation of vacant properties and affordable housing for young people: five thematic approaches that were identified and selected by 15 students to analyze the role of the industrial wasteland “textile factory” in Hirschbach/Lower Austria during the winter semester of 2024. On January 29, 2025, the results will be presented in cooperation with the brownfield site dialogue, which is now being prepared as part of the project seminar “Yesterday an industrial site, today a vacant site and tomorrow…?”, and a webinar on the results is also the goal (led by Y. Franz and M. Heintel).
