Leigh Walker, MA

Biography

Leigh Walker is a Doctoral Candidate working on small urban green spaces and their potential to contribute to urban climate change adaptation. Her academic background is in social research, having completed a MA at the University of Warwick in 2021. Her MA thesis focused on public perceptions of Low Traffic Neighbourhoods in the UK. Her research interests include urban climate change adaptation, urban sociology, urban ecology, nature-based solutions, sustainability, and the relationship between nature and people.

Previously Leigh worked at the University of Warwick and the University of Glasgow as a research project manager, supporting transdisciplinary sustainable development projects. She has also worked in roles supporting academics to develop the impact of their research on the ‘real world’. Prior to moving to the higher education sector, Leigh worked in various roles across industry and the third sector, particularly in charities.
